Dead Pony

Dead Pony – The Globe Cardiff

The Globe Goes Wild As Dead Pony Perform Their First Headline Show In Cardiff!

Dead Pony brought their Eat My Dust! Tour to a packed-out Cardiff venue, The Globe, and boy they did not disappoint! Joining them for the evening were support acts Lady Garden and Overgrown, who definitely got the crowd warmed up. The audience was buzzing for the night ahead and what was meant to be a ‘school night’ was turned into a part of history as they returned to Wales as headliners. Having followed their trajectory over the last few years, its clear that this was not just another tour but a promise for whats to come. The milestone for Dead Pony’s career was the legendary music producer and YouTube commentator Rick Beato spotlighted them in his Top 10 video celebrating their breakthrough.

Opening the night were Welsh riot girl inspired band, Lady Garden. Their set was packed with attitude, and the band’s confidence, along side their punchy lyrics made a perfect opening spot. They brought plenty of high energy to the stage, setting the tone for the rest of the evening and immediately winning over the hearts of the crowd. As a local act sharing the stage with touring bands, Lady Garden more than proved why they should be there and why they are a band that would be worth keeping an eye on, especially in the Welsh alternative music scene.

Next up were Overgrown, a four-piece nu-metal and grunge band from Berwick-Upon-Tweed, nestled between Edinburgh and Newcastle. Their set was a throwback to the 2000s, with their grungy vibe, low moody lighting and their intense performance that drew the audience in every second. Overgrown are building a huge social media and by releasing regular videos/streams to their fans, they are slowly showing the world that they are a force to be reckoned with and definitely a band to watch out for!

From the moment that Dead Pony stepped onto the stage, the energy shifted and everyone was ready for an unforgettable show. The setlist was well balanced, spotlighting their newer material such as “Eat My Dust!”  whilst also delivering all time favourites such as ‘RAINBOWS’ which relied on the crowd participation.

One particular moment caught everyone off guard, and left the crowd in awe. A cover of Alanis Morissette’s  “YOU OUGHTA KNOW” is no easy task to cover but the incredibly talented Anna Sheilds absolutely nailed it! She handled the shift in vocal dynamics with impressive control and confidence, It was a striking reminder of her talent and has solidified her reputation for most compelling new female vocalists in modern rock.

If this performance is anything to go on, then Dead Pony are only just getting started. Cardiff witnessed a band oozing with incredible potential, and there is no doubt that Dead Pony are destined to become one of the most talented and unmissable acts of the future UK rock scene.
