Paris’ most anticipated music festival Rock en Seine returns for summer 2024 from August 22 to 25 at Domaine national de Saint-Cloud. In this stunning setting on the edges of Paris, five stages will host an unmissable lineup across 4 days with headliners Fred again., LCD Soundsystem, Måneskin, Massive Attack, PJ Harvey, The Offspring and The Smile.
As reflected in its name, the festival is forever dedicated to the genre and invites the most worthy rockers to take to the stage. The enchanting PJ Harvey, known for her strong and enigmatic performances, distinct artistic vision and a fearless approach to experimentation, and will no doubt be a wondrous headliner for the final night of Rock en Seine 2024. PJ Harvey is joined by the larger-than-life Italian rock group Måneskin, and the Irish newcomers Inhaler plus, the legendary pop punk hitmakers The Offspring armed with all their classics, the fiery duo The Kills, the electrifying The Hives, and the US alt-rock trio Blonde Redhead.
Rock en Seine prides itself on the great diversity in the nationalities of the artists, as well as in the genres. The Smile, comprising Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood, alongside Sons of Kemet drummer Tom Skinner will bring their masterful hybridizations, blending progressive rock, post-punk, and electro. On the indie front, we have French artist Zaho de Sagazan and this year’s BBC Introducing Artist of the Year, Olivia Dean brings a mix of folk, pop, rock and blues elements.
Electronic music has been a huge part of the festival since its inception, and Rock en Seine 2024 is no different. Mercury Prize nominated DJ / producer Fred again.., will give his only concert in France in 2024 at Rock en Seine, along with the brilliant London dance-funk duo Jungle. Not to forget major figures in the genre coming to Rock en Seine next summer, trip-hop heroes Massive Attack and the monumental LCD Soundsystem, led by James Murphy, are both set to headline next year. Plus Soulwax will be making their long-awaited comeback, and the eternal dance floor queen Róisín Murphy. It’s a packed 4 days, with more acts to be announced.
In line with the values at the core of Rock en Seine, the festivities will continue through the ACT! Zone where numerous talks will be held to focus on the festival’s sustainability commitments. Plus through the Mini Rock activities, the Club Avant Seine and Première Seine programs, young and emerging talents will once again benefit from Rock en Seine’s support.
This 20th edition also coincides with a globally significant and historic event in the summer of 2024: the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris and Rock en Seine is delighted to play a part in the Cultural Olympiad for Paris 2024.
With Rock en Seine taking place only days before the start of the Summer Paralympic Games, the festival will curate a programme, labeled Cultural Olympiad, alongside 4 other major cultural festivals (Festival International de la BD d’Angoulême, Festival de Cannes, Festival d’Avignon, and Rencontres photographiques d’Arles). The Cultural Olympiad of Paris 2024 aims to foster dialogue between sports, culture, Olympic and Paralympic values throughout the territory.
Dominique Hervieu, Director of Culture for Paris 2024: “We are delighted that the Rock en Seine festival joins the Olympic and Paralympic momentum by integrating numerous events labeled by Paris 2024 as part of the Cultural Olympiad. Art, sport, but also values of inclusion and sharing will be at the heart of this 20th edition.”
Matthieu Ducos, Director of Rock en Seine: “20 years after starting the festival we’re very excited to announce the first bands of the line up of the next edition, mixing the most talented artists we had for our very beginning in 2003 (PJ Harvey and Massive Attack) and some of the hottest talents at the moment (including, Fred again.. and Måneskin). This year we’ll make sure the festival shines like never before in the wake of the flame of the Olympics in Paris during summer.”
This 2024 edition of Rock en Seine will be the venue for a dazzling, dynamic, and historic encounter between two flames: the universal flame of the Olympics and the flame of enthusiasm that the festival has carried for many years. The connections between art, music, and sports, as well as their common values such as excellence, self-improvement, inclusion, diversity, and universalism, will be celebrated. Festival goers will be at the heart of this emulation, and can look forward to the surprises along the way!
