Night Currents

Night Currents Festival to arrive in Portsmouth

Night Currents Festival is a brand new music event coming to Portsmouth on Saturday the 7th of October, showcasing the UK’s most exciting established and rising talent. Ten acts will storm the South Coast to play across two stages at Portsmouth’s iconic music venue The Wedgewood Rooms and The Edge of The Wedge, with zero clashes between artists.

The festival will be an exciting one-day indoor music event, with an already impressive lineup for its first year, including headliners Gengahr, as well as Shelf Lives, Fräulein, Average Life Complaints, Yumi and The Weather, and many more to be announced.

Night Currents is proud to announce that Gengahr will be the first headlining act of the festival. Riding on the high of their critically acclaimed fourth studio album, ‘Red Sun Titans’, Gengahr will embark on their album tour later this year, closing the tour with a triumphant return to the Wedgewood Rooms main stage and their first time headlining the historic Portsmouth venue. Gengahr will bring the sounds of their summer-kissed new LP, along with indie staple tracks like ‘Heavenly Made and Before Sunrise’, to Night Currents Festival on Saturday 7th October 2023.

Presented by ABH, Fitz Promotions and Rock Coven, Night Currents Festival is a collaboration between forward-thinking tastemakers with a shared goal of celebrating unforgettable talent. ABH Promotions operate in the Portsmouth music scene, bringing alternative, punk and leftfield pop to the Wedgewood Rooms and Edge of the Wedge. Presenting the best of indie and rock artists, Fitz Promotions also host Golden Touch Festival, selling out year after year. Rock Coven are a music publication championing the freshest rock and alt music in the UK. Uniting for Night Currents Festival was the obvious next big step.

Al Hudson of ABH Promotions says:

“We’re really excited to all be collaborating for Night Currents! Individually, we’ve worked on Dials Festival and Golden Touch in the past, and we now have an amazing opportunity to showcase acts we all adore and bring them to The Wedge a venue very close to all of our hearts. We’re really proud of the line-up for the first year. It’s going to be a really special day!”

Early bird tickets for Night Currents sold out in less than 3 hours, with no acts yet announced. General advance tickets are £18 and are on sale now. Be sure to follow Night Currents Festival for upcoming announcements on more acts to be announced.
