Fire Records x Independent Venue Week UK Tour

Bringing formidable musicians to venues across the UK, Fire Records have joined forces with Independent Venue Week for a travelling independent label showcase filled with left-field and shoegaze pop.

The special co-headline tour kicks off in Southampton on 30 January, and will see Amber Arcades, Hater and Thala stop off in Cardiff, London, Coventry, Liverpool, Newcastle and Glasgow.

Amber Arcades, the moniker of Dutch musician Annelotte de Graaf reinvents herself with every album, and her sound has been described as “wistful, glowing dream pop” by The Guardian. The experimental pop musician will be performing music from her new record ‘Barefoot On Diamond Road’, set for release on 10 February.

One of Sweden’s most exciting young acts, indie-pop quarter Hater will be offering up their infectious riffs and bittersweet shoegaze pop, following the release of their acclaimed album ‘Sincere’ last year. Evoking My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive and Deerhunter, the record is a dazzling piece of aching romanticism, destined to feature on a thousand mixtapes. The LP was also praised by  Rough Trade who included it in their Albums of the Year and said: “few records have cut through the noise of 2022 quite like ‘Sincere’, achingly cool shoegaze with plenty of heart.”

Opening the bill is THALA, an emerging songwriter who, over the course of the last two years, has constantly reinvented herself with each release while touring with the likes of Snail Mail and Current Joys. In a pool of countless newcomers, she has found the strength to stand out by means of outstanding songwriting and undeniable charisma.

Set to showcase three incredible Fire Records acts, the tour will also shine a light on seven of the UK’s most vital small venues. Highlighting how important these independent venues are not just to the UK, but to overseas touring artists too, Fire Records are aiming to expose how much harder touring has got in a post-Brexit, post-affordable landscape.

Over the past few years Fire Records has risen to become one of the world’s leading labels. Fiercely independent and driven by maverick A&R, it has developed into what Billboard described as “the most elegant psychedelic pop label in the world.”

The label roster combines the cosmic pop of Jane Weaver, Hater, Islet and PIctish Trail with the haunting ambience of Death And Vanilla, the aural tapestries of Faten Kanaan, the freak-folk mysticality of Brigid Mae Power and the uncategorizable and universally acclaimed Vanishing Twin. In addition, Fire Records has become a home from home for established international artists such as The Lemonheads, Sebadoh, The Chills, Throwing Muses and The Black Lips.

As the label continues to grow, a huge year awaits on the horizon with music from new signings Amber Arcades and Decisive Pink as well as RVG, Faten Kanaan and Immaterial Possession.
