Fontaines D.C. – Chalk, Brighton
In my opinion, you’d be hard to pushed to find another band at the top of the game right now, than Fontaines DC.
The Killers – St Mary’s Stadium, Southampton
It had been some 18 years since I’d last seen the killers play when they had just released their debut album not fuss. It was a sweaty sold out capacity gig of 400 people at the Wedgewood Rooms for a relatively unknown band for the obscene price of £7! (I still have the ticket stub at home as no one believes me on the price!)

Wet Leg – The Wedgewood Rooms
It had been a while since I’d seen a queue this size outside the Wedgewood Rooms such was the hype and excitement for tonights gig with Wet Leg! The band from the Isle of Wight have completely blown up over night, even if you had been living under a rock you would of no doubt of heard of them in the last 6 months.
The Vaccines – Portsmouth Guildhall
No matter your opinion of The Vaccines, the one thing you cannot deny is how good they are as a live band! From the off the band bounded on to stage with a energy that spread like wildfire to the audience with lead singer Justin Hayward-Young as the master of ceremonies!
Khruangbin – Alexandra Palace, London
I feel like I have just been taken on a magic carpet ride into a psychedelic, jazz infused forest of love with Khruangbin in the drivers seat! What an incredible gig! The Texan three piece tonight created more funk than Nina Simone’s mosquito’s tweeter!
Sunflower Bean – The Wedgewood Rooms
New York three piece, Sunflower Bean returned to headline the Wedgewood Rooms tonight in front of a small intimate crowd. Their long awaited third album, Headful of Sugar’ is due to drop on 6th May via Lucky Number and tonights show featured plenty of material from the forthcoming album.
Johnny Marr – The Old Fire Station, Bournemouth
Johnny, Johnny, Johnny F@#king Marr! The chant that is synonymous with his gigs rings out around The Old Fire Station in Bournemouth on this Saturday evening. You couldn’t get another person in the venue if you tried, every single bit of space was taken and that even included the photo pit. Definitely the smallest one that I have been in but this made it even more intimate than this gig already was tonight.
Paul Weller – Portsmouth Guildhall
What more can be said about Paul Weller, The Modfather has been producing music that has traversed the decades and continues to stand the test of time. This man’s music has soundtracked the vast majority of my life and those of others too, from The Jam to The Style Council and last 30 years of his solo career.
