Cassia

Cassia – Electric Bristol

On a bright evening that felt like summer edging in, Cassia’s feel-good sound made itself right at home in Bristol. Inside Electric (recently rebranded from SWX), the atmosphere was warm, upbeat, and perfectly suited to their breezy, sun-soaked style.

I arrived in time to catch Arcy Drive – a four-piece from New York – and they were a standout in their own right. There was something refreshingly down-to-earth about their performance. Clearly grateful to be playing shows across the UK and Europe, they delivered their set with real heart and energy that quickly won the crowd over.

Cassia opened with Western Front and moved seamlessly through a set that drew heavily from their latest album everyone, outside. Tracks like High TonesFriends and Miles Out brought the room to life, their signature mix of indie, soft groove and sunlit rhythm working its usual magic. It’s a sound built more on feel than flash — and that’s exactly why it works.

By the time they closed out with Reframe and Right There, the venue was swaying and smiling in sync. Cassia didn’t need any tricks or theatrics; the songs and the setting spoke for themselves.

Madness – On The Beach

Picture this: a beautiful warm, sunny day in the coastal town of Brighton, swarming with people buzzing about their daily lives enjoying a Friday in summer. Brighton itself is quirky and perfect for music fans with lots of record and music shops, bars and clubs, as well as independent music venues, and for the last 6 years they’ve amped it up and have been hosting huge gigs on the beach (yes, their stoney beach right on top of the water). It is the perfect outdoor summer’s day venue; live music paired with a sea breeze, what more could you want?

Oasis – Wembley Stadium

Oasis are the band that started my real love for indie / rock n roll, the first band that I found for myself or the one that found me in the mid 90’s as I was about to head into secondary school and one that have soundtracked my life ever since. The band that has seen me through a myriad of all different times, yet the music has always been there in those moments of celebration and also times of need.

Moby – On The Beach

Think of the dance and electronic music that you might have listened to throughout the 21st century, or you continue to listen to now. None of them would exist or be popular without the impact and influence of Moby, whose real name is Richard Melville Hall. It’s no exaggeration whatsoever to say Moby is simply a legend in every sense of the word, and his influence on dance and electronic music will only continue to influence generations to come. Tonight, his first performance in Brighton in 24 years, showcased his genius for us all to see, both in his live musicianship as well as the sheer quality of the tunes he has created over the years.
