Energy, spectacle and emotion, Twenty One Pilots pulled out all the stops for their only UK show this year.
Closing out London’s iconic All Points East festival, which has been running for the last ten days and hosting huge names throughout the month, Ohio’s duo delivered a colossal set packed with career-spanning songs that had the whole of Victoria Park bouncing!
The rain held off for most of the day, giving the 40,000 festival-goers plenty to explore across the iconic London park. With six stages each filled with stacked line-ups, and multiple brand partners and food stalls throughout, attendees were clearly having the time of their lives, closing out the summer and enjoying the bank holiday weekend in the best way possible.
The rap-rock duo took to the stage in the evening for an incredible two-hour, fifteen-minute performance,
delivering a huge 29-song setlist, curated with the classic crowd-pleasing hits, along with some of their newer material. Tyler told the crowd, “Tonight it’s me, Josh and you”, and it genuinely felt that way; the audience became the third member of the band.
A standout moment came with the debut of “Robots” from their highly anticipated eighth studio album, Breach, released last September. Joined by Emi Grace, who performed on the E3 stage earlier in the day, the song seamlessly transitioned into the Beatles’ Let It Be, with the crowd singing at full throttle. The band paid homage to several other artists throughout the night, with Milky Chance’s Stolen Dance woven into One Way, Radiohead’s Creep merging beautifully with Drum Show, and even a cheeky message from Jack White granting permission for the boys to play the iconic Seven Nation Army.
In classic Twenty One Pilots’ style, the show was packed with stunts. Tyler performed atop a board held up by the crowd during The Contract, while Josh climbed up to a B-stage drum kit in the sky during Drum Show – Dunn really did give the crowd the most epic drum show! At the midpoint of the set, the band travelled through the crowd to a second stage featuring a burning car, interacting with the fans along the way. You could clearly see how much the band means to the fans, and how much the fans mean to the band. We also had a special guest feature from Lucas, the security guard, who took the baton for the fan feature during Ride and delivered the chorus with amazing energy, earning full crowd support and admiration.
The commitment and love the fans have for this band is second to none. All around the park, there were incredible outfits, honouring different eras of the band’s ever-expanding universe. My personal favourite was seeing all of the “Neds” who later supported Tyler singing the bridge of Chlorine. The band also reminded the crowd that the UK is the country where they’ve played the most shows outside the US, a true testament to the long-standing connection between the band and their British fanbase.
Twenty One Pilots didn’t just give us a show; they completely pulled us into their world. The lighting and visuals leaned into the band’s signature colour language, supporting every mood shift throughout the set. The performance really felt like the culmination of a decade of lore, symbolism and storytelling they’ve been building. For two hours, we weren’t just watching a concert; we were entirely immersed in the universe they have created.
