Folk Bitch Trio

Folk Bitch Trio – Deaf Institute, Manchester

It’s a Sunday night, and a sold-out crowd is ready and waiting for the Folk Bitch Trio. It’s the second time the band have performed in Manchester, and it certainly won’t be the last.

The band’s debut album, Now Would Be A Good Time, showcases their ability to stretch and shape the future of Folk music and the serious power of their technical abilities.

Georgia Harmer supports the band, bringing a softness to the room. A blend of harmonies and humour warms up the crowd and sets the scene for a great headline show from the band.

The trio opens with a cover of I’ll Find A Way. The acapella performance is breathtaking, the endless sounds of pints being poured stand still for a minute. There’s a feeling of hypnosis when they perform, the passion and energy radiate through them, and the audience watches in awe. It was moving to watch the crowd as they performed Come Undone and Foreign Bird.

As the gig starts to near its end, the band calls for the disco ball to be turned on, and suddenly, we’re transported into a romantic prom-like scene. The audience gently swayed side to side to God’s A Different Sword. By the end of the show, we have danced, cried, and if you’re called Sarah, you’ve jumped for joy.

The band will be heading to London next before embarking on the European leg of the tour. They will be back soon enough for End of the Road Festival and the Moseley Folk Festival this summer.
