Khruangbin

Photo Review: Khruangbin – Eventim Apollo

Khruangbin’s first of their three London shows at the iconic Eventim Apollo was nothing short of magical. The Texan trio, known for their genre-defying blend of funk, soul, psychedelic rock, brought their unique sound to the stage captivating the packed venue.

The setlist was a well-balanced mix of tracks from across their discography, including fan favourites like “Maria Tambien” and “White Gloves,” and the evening also saw them play their most recent album ‘A La Sala’ in full, a bold move, but one that paid off very, very well.

Khruangbin’s music, for me, transcend genres, taking you on a journey that was both meditative and energising. Their performance at Eventim Apollo was a flawless display of musicianship, style, and vibe. If you ever get the chance to see them live, do not miss it—it’s a transcendent experience that leaves you feeling as though you’ve just floated through a musical dream.

Viagra Boys – O2 Academy Bournemouth

From the first note, the crowd were hanging onto every word frontman Sebastian Murphy delivered - as always, shirtless, tattooed from neck to waist, gliding around the stage in trackies and socks. There was a beautiful contradiction in watching a heavily inked man dance with such fluidity - his movements elegant, loose-hipped, playful and magnetic. Think of a post-punk ballerina!
